and so begins this little tour of some the works i've painted this semester. this is one of the small-scale studies of polaroids, some of which then went on to become large scale 4'x5' pieces. this one, "white-out oliver" is like 18"x22", p.s. i'm bad at remembering specifics. i like this one, the blues and reds. i should have gone on to do a largescale one of this. oliver would have wanted it like that too. Posted by Picasa

"ghost of kristen," is around 20"x 24" oil on canvas. i spent a ton of time on the blue glazes and those windows. the surface is pretty nice for a smallscale study. per usual, kristen is depicted with a wine glass in her hand Posted by Picasa

study for "remnants of sam" this is about 18x 22" or so, i think. i dig it, but the scratching out wasn't enough for me. Posted by Picasa

focus on surface in this pretty little oil on linen, 4'x 5', "remnants of sam," is from a polaroid i took at sam roeck's bolton hill apartment, he's got sweet digs. this piece was well-received in our fall senior painting majors show entitled "findings." it was presented surrounded by the three smaller polaroid pieces as well as 8 actual polaroid fotographs Posted by Picasa

the newest addition to my polaroid series, this too is 4'x 5' oil on linen, glorious surface, could still use a top varnish. and my class suggested toning down the "crayola" colors in the back and fixing that dreadful pillow. i agree. work in progress, but dig the dotted line? that's dan silo there. Posted by Picasa

from the "Ich bin" series, this one is my most current work. it's 4' x 4' oil on panel, which is my new fave media of choice, the wooden panel and the size work well with my concepts and style. i also combined my interest in polaroids with this sucker and got to include my favie found object, this foto i bought at an antique store in kreuzberg, berlin. she's a tough broad Posted by Picasa

too much symbolism and some of its a bit strong, this piece is nearly finished, ive got a crit this week so i need to touch it up a bit, after hearing my peers' crits, i realized i need to remove those effing bears, theyre a bit overkill, so im in the process of sanding them out and then replacing them with glazey bears, like the ones framing the piece. it's aptly titled "ich bin ein berliner" and is 4feetsquared. yea, i know, you love the barbed wire. me too. Posted by Picasa

those silly roma tomatoes again, but this time- oil on canvas. i think it's about 18x24'' if i can recall. i finished this one in september, it was a summer piece and gets me all teary-eyed missing italy. Posted by Picasa
