how have i spent 3000 u.s. dollars in 6 weeks.. can someone please inform me? i mean, i understand that for each euro i spend, i'm essentially spending a buck 30. but please? what have i bought? what am i doing? my father's gonna scalp me for this one...

off to london on friday. am ecstatic to the nth degree. then a weekend in paris. b-london sure knows how to treat a lady. but halloween in paris? do i hear myself correctly? this is my fave holiday and here i am spending it in france? yeesh... we'll see how that goes, certainly not as well as last year's celebrity skin i wore.

19th nervous breakdown

i'm not having one. i'm just listening to the stones. things are actually pretty chipper here considering it's midterms week. i don't really have any (save italian, which should be rather simplice) and ive got 2 critiques in my studios, so i'm not that stressed. i am, however, broke, which could potentially cause a 20th nervous breakdown... but to make matters much much better, come friday evening, i will be in london with brian london who will show me the city as noone else ever could. not even a local, they don't appreciate all things english like me and bri do. and then off to parie for the weekend of the 28- nov 1. a parisian Halloween? is their such a thing? any costume ideas? courtney love rocked my world last year... i'm at a loss.

went to parma (as in the cheese) and Milano (as in fashion capital of the world) this weekend to see some sweet corregio's and leo's "l'ultima cena," the last supper. had too much fun at the club, killer plastique, with these milanese boys, and didn't quite wake up saturday a.m. on time for the day's field trips... whoops! saturday night missye brickell, childhood friend and fellow country-clubber, came from rome to florence for some sweet pizza and partying. was so good to catch up with her, we had an amazing american brunch of eggs benedict at capocaccia sunday morning and went marketing for a bit. overall a sweet weekend.

i'll save my breakdowns for post-fall break...
p.s. i miss my orangekids and cornellians. holler

biggest shoutout ever

to a miss lee a(dair) sparks for her 21 years of life. gave her a big long distance oktoberfest call on her big day, but she deserves another. love you girlfriend!
(i made that orange like your hair!)

it's raining in italy, baby. everything else is the same

can't believe i haven't written in this long. i'm totally slackin on my pimpin. sorry bout that, i know i was supposed to be all up on keeping the updates coming. and i would say that my life has just been boring and nothing's gone on, but that's a lie, & the day after my last update i left for munich (monaco, in italiano, which is really confusing...) for oktoberfest- holler. so let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start, shall we....?

left on a train friday, 1 ottobre, at around 12:30 a.m. and after an 8 1/2 hour long ride crammed in a compartment with 5 effing horny italian boys who spoke little to no english and whose roman accents confused me to no end (tuscan italian is pure italian, so the florentines say, and it's rather simple to understand, accent-wise). after a delightful bavarian breakfast, i took the u-bahn successfully (and alone, without a lick of the german language to my knowledge) to the pinakothek der moderne and saw some incredible sigmar polkes, otto dixes, max beckmanns, and surprisingly, a ton of american modern artists as well- a good spread. met celeste at the train station and off we went to her friend Sabine's apartment for a quick freshening up and then off to the tents. the bier tents close on weekdays at 4 p.m. so that means if you wanna be there to party you've gotta make it there lest they close the doors in your face. as they did with us at 4:06. we found our way up a back staircase of the Schuetzen-Festhalle and sat our asses down and ordered our first liters. we were there until about 11 and then found our way to the palais, this club where celeste's ex, mauritz, throws a big to-do post-oktoberfest every year. all the "von's" were there- let me tell you, i've never been too partial to the prep, but these boys sure can pull off polo. and they've got castles, which never hurt anyone's rep. after dancing til 3, we passed out at Bine's place, only to awaken at 8:30 the next morning to get showered and ready to be at the tent by 10 (on weekends, and this was saturday, the tents close at 10 a-frickin-m so you've got to be up and ready, despite the night before's events. it's way hardcore) oktoberfest was much better than i had expected as i had heard that it was filled with tourists from america, australia and other alcoholic countries- despite the warning, i only met one other american and 2 australians in our mostly-german tent. somehow i managed to use up all of my euro on my cell phone so i was sans-communication and lost from celeste, but i'm an independent chick so i made friends amongst the 4500 people in the tent. and had a couple lowenbrau and some pretzels too. somehow got lost in munich trying to find the palais for the second night of partying, and wound up there by some strange coincidence after borrowing a random brit's mobile and contacting my bavarian ex-bf, christian, who gave directions and by 1 a.m. i was safely on the dancefloor. partying hard until 4. caught the train the next morning at 9:30, no idea how. made the 8 1/2 hour ride with the two smelliest guidos in all of italy. wanted to vomit the entire way there for a variety of reasons. slept all of sunday night, monday night, and tues. no going out in florence for me this week...

this weekend was one of my only ones here in florence. just wanted to chill out. partied a bit too hard thursday night at the discotecas, got in a bit of trouble with my italiana mamma. so have been playing it low-key, wine in the piazza style. this week, loads of painting, have a big series i'm working on. love my classes, silkscreening is such a blast, expect some hip t-shirts. next weekend off to milan and parma with my leonardo class. and then fall break, the 22-28, off to london to stay with my dear brian london, and then he's taking me to paris for the following weekend. glamour glamour. ok, effing call/write/post me cause we haven't talked in a while and i miss you and i miss america (save for those crazy elections and debates, insanity, though fun to watch from a distance) (oh, fyi if kerry doesn't win, don't expect to see me back on american soil. although it's really going to suck for us because the euro will go up if g.w. wins and it's already at $1.30. and i'm getting broke.)
